Explore Lamps and Lighting at the Morse with Free Summer Family Programs

WINTER PARK, FL—The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art continues its free summer family programs that explore the depth and breadth of the collection. This year’s programs will focus on the exhibition Lamps and Lighting—Tiffany and His Contemporaries.

The Museum’s summer offerings for families—designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents or guardians—include a gallery tour with a take-home art activity on Tuesdays and a film, tour, and an art activity on Fridays. Registration begins Monday, May 1. Space in these free family programs is limited, and reservations are required. Details are as follows:

  • Family Tours—Take a 40-minute guided tour through several galleries on four Tuesdays: June 20, 27, and July 11, 18. Includes a take-home art activity. The tour begins at 11 a.m.
  • Friday Family Films—Enjoy a short film, gallery tour, and art activity in this 90-minute program on four Fridays: June 23, 30, and July 14, 21. The program begins at 10 a.m.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A $5 refundable deposit per person is requested when securing a reservation for either program. Call (407) 645-5311, extension 136, to make a reservation or request more information.

The Morse Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933). The Museum’s holdings also include American art pottery, late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings, graphics, and decorative art.

Summer hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Regular admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $1 for students, and children younger than 12 receive free admission and are always welcome with their parents or guardians. The Museum, located at 445 N. Park Avenue, is owned and operated by the Charles Hosmer Morse Foundation and receives additional support from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation. It receives no public funds.
